About Wild Card Video Poker

Wild card video poker games designate one or more card values as wild — meaning they can substitute for any other card to form the best possible hand. This fundamentally changes both the hand frequencies and the optimal strategy compared to classic games.

Deuces Wild is the flagship wild card game. All four 2s are wild, creating dramatically more winning combinations. The full-pay version returns 100.76% with perfect strategy — the highest RTP of any standard video poker game and a genuine player advantage. However, the minimum paying hand is three of a kind (not a pair), reflecting the increased ease of making hands.

Loose Deuces Wild boosts the four deuces payout to 2500 coins, pushing the RTP to 100.97%. Bonus Deuces Wild adds extra payouts for five of a kind and wild royals. Each variant has distinct strategy requirements.

Wild Card Strategy Is Completely Different

Deuces Wild strategy has almost nothing in common with Jacks or Better. Key differences include: never hold a single high card (there is no pair payout), always hold dealt deuces regardless of other cards, and break made straights or flushes more aggressively when holding wilds because the upside potential is much higher.

The number of wild cards in your initial deal determines which strategy tier to use. With zero deuces, prioritize strong draws. With one deuce, you already have at least three of a kind. With two or more deuces, the strategy simplifies dramatically since a paying hand is guaranteed.

Wild card games also include unique hand categories not found in classic poker: "wild royal flush" (a royal flush completed using wild cards) and "four deuces" (all four 2s in one hand, the second-highest payout).
